SMiLE participants should ideally have a C1 level of English, German or French. This requirement is not compulsory for native speakers of these three languages. Before their stay, students should provide the SMiLE coordinator with a copy of their certificate.

Also, before starting their internship, they need to provide the SMiLE coordinator with a Police Clearance Certificate.
